Long ago alien civilization took place on this planet. For some reasons, they left the planet. This looks more ancient building by the way those pipes were once a core of that civilization but now they are just a decay place.
Those gigantic size gives two astronauts a hint that such civilization has to be really huge and has all those high-tech thingy more than they can imagine. But what made they leave the planet? And why the pipes stand above the ground rather than under the ground as what we have in our planet. Questions after questions they have as a sun shines through the pipes make the two can see how far this things go on. Before they realize how deep they go into the pipes.
They can't get back! All the signal they use to track the way in, is lost. The pipes were made by unknown objects and for some reason it can make the equipment created on earth gone wrong.
And it's not like that Gerard started to lose his mind on his companion, it's because the effect of the pipes. The more the travel deep inside the pipe the more they lose.
He starts to panic and seem like his companion makes all the annoying comments along the way. But both realize that no matter what they try to do.
They can't get out.
Gerard starts to wonder what make those aliens left the planet? It could happen to them now. What the alien use the pipes for? If there is more information, Gerard may be able to escape the place.
Until he comes back to his feet. He can't see his companions anymore. While the sun start to go down. And the dark takes place. This even more fucked up. He can't contact anyone or anything. He thinks that what if he is wrong, what if he stays close to his friend.
Unable to answer anything.. Gerard sit and lay on the ground those long walk made him feel so tried. In his mind is is blank he can't think of anything just to wish to a very little hope.
That someone find him... or something find him and get him our of this place. In the dark.. he can only hears his heart beat. Nothing more.. nothing less.
Wooo... the arts is great so I took my liberty to do some story. Keep up great work man.
I've been meaning to reply to this for almost a week! This was awesome, thank you so much for taking the time to write it hehe. I like your questions about the pipes. In my mind, and I only thought about this after someone's suggestion, is that the whole thing is a wind musical instrument But yes, I like how you described it's totally silent now. Also, I pictured Gerard as the annoying one, and you were nice to him hehe. Cheers to you!
First off: This image is AMAZING. I am imagining some civilization of giant aliens, you know, something awesome like that! They may be extinct though, these pipes need maintenance. Or they abandoned the upper world (some sort of plague or they did something that made their atmosphere unlivable) and are now underground so our astronauts are unlikely to find them. but who knows!?
Now for my what happens next:
The one that is not Gerald (Who I will randomly call Arin, because it looks female), takes the side pipe, leaving Gerald behind. (this pipe looks like it might angle down, so she slides for like, 5 minutes before it levels out at a new intersection.
And there is Gerald! the pipe he took led there as well!
It doesn't matter which direction Arin goes, forward, backward, left, right, up down! It doesn't matter how fast or how slow she travels. Even retracing her steps to try and leave this planet. Their paths ALWAYS meet at the next intersection. ALWAYS.
(so I guess they just crossed over into the twilight zone or something... I feel kind of bad about that. )
